Description

Hi,
this is actually my very first completed character. The obligatory "Alien Bust" every ZBrusher should have sculpted once in his lifetime :)
The Base Mesh was built in Maya (simple cube bust), sculpting in ZBrush, some retopo with Topogun (beta) (an excellent application I´m really looking forward to), texturing and rendering in modo 302 (using a normal map from Zbrush, the Maya presets (e.g. Tagent Space Normals, Best Quality) seem to work very well in modo, by the way...) Finally some postwork in Photoshop (color correction, noise added...)

Came out beautifully

nice anatomy and little details (like the little veins)
that adds personality to this alien

The cropping on top is a bit unfortunate and would have liked
to see a more atmospheric background and/or lightign

Excellent, very nice detail and texture, not to mention the design itself.

Great work.

he looks gooey :) nice job. What vince said about cropping, although I don't mind it all that much.

Very nice work, agree with most of Wallace's critiques.

I think a more dynamic approach in terms of the lightning would have been more appropriate for a piece like this. Great work however, your technical skills are extremely impressive.

Thanks a lot for your comments, guys. Much appreciated.

Yes, I agree about the lighting situation - could have been a bit more dramatic/atmospheric. The cropping, though, is just my style. In my photographical works I use that a lot.

Thanks again,
Marco

Heh heh, looks real. Such a grave and sinister look he has on his face. ;) I like that you didn't make the eyeballs all smooth surfaced, but added a texture much like a grape without it's peel. That's more realistic, in a strange, alien way. Nice work with the slippery, wet skin! But I think it would have looked better if you didn't chop off the top of the head. ;)
